Actor Bruce Willis, 67, was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia. (FTD). The statement was made by the star’s own family in a statement posted on social networks this Thursday (16).
Willis announced that he was taking a career break in March last year due to health issues. At that time, he was diagnosed with a neurological condition called aphasia.
In the news released today, Emma, Demi, Rumer, Scout, Tallulah, Mabel, and Evelyn Willis explain that frontotemporal dementia is the most ambitious diagnosis, and that unlike aphasia, the problem doesn’t just affect a patient’s ability to speak.
“There is no cure for the disease today, a reality that we hope may change in the coming years. As Bruce’s condition progresses, we hope media attention can focus on shedding light on this disease, which requires much more awareness and research.”
At various other times, the Willis family text warns that FTD is the most common form of dementia, but there are still no effective and reversible treatments.
Relatives took the opportunity to thank fans for their support and said Bruce Willis’ diagnosis would be used to draw attention to the disease.
“Bruce has always enjoyed life and has helped everyone he knows do the same. It means the world to see this sense of care reflected in him and all of us. We are touched by the love you share for our beloved husband, father and friend during this difficult time. Your continued compassion, understanding and respect will enable us to help Bruce live life to the fullest as possible.”
