Synology is launching a new WiFi 6 router in Europe with the RT6600ax. Using six external omni-directional antennas, this device provides speeds of up to 600 Mbps over 2.4 GHz and up to 4,800 and 1200 Mbps over two 5 GHz channels. It should also offer reasonable speed in terms of physical connectivity, thanks to its 2.5GbE port.

Under the hood is an Arm quad-core clocked at 1.8GHz, powered by 1GB of DDR3 memory. The rear has three gigabit ports, a 2.5GbE connector (lan/wan) and a blue WAN gigabit port. The USB type-a port can then be used to connect devices such as printers or external storage.

The RT6600ax offers up to five networks with up to 15 different WLAN SSDs. Supports any configurable network, vlan tagging and 801.1q standard for router, AP or network usage. Built-in Threat Prevention should detect potential attacks at an early stage, and there are also all sorts of useful features like parental controls, web filter, and QoS settings.

Although the router currently retails for 325 Euros on Mobile-Harddisk.nl, Synology has not disclosed a suggested retail price.
