Much of the crisis in the semiconductor industry and the production of many devices in the world is due to the recent restrictions caused by the pandemic, which is affecting some cities such as Shanghai, which affects the production of many new devices and vehicles.
Apple has taken a step forward to expand its manufacturing plans outside of China, telling manufacturing partners that their goal is to further diversify manufacturing, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The vast majority of Apple products are made in China at Foxconn and Pegatron, but little by little, Cupertino-based manufacturers are turning to other markets, such as Vietnam and India, for orders.
It appears that Apple has been considering geographic expansion plans for a while, but the pandemic has put those plans on hold, however, due to the strict restrictions in Shanghai, they would have rescheduled the decision.
In addition, China is also a geopolitically opposite country to the United States, which could ultimately affect North American companies like Apple in the future.
However, these will be gradual and slow changes, because for those who are from Cupertino, it is not at all easy to remove all production from Chinamainly because it is very difficult to find cheap and skilled labor elsewhere.
The supply chain for new Apple products is likely to begin to take over outside of China, while Foxconn has already begun setting up facilities in India to help produce iPhones for the domestic market.
In the future, most iPhones could be made in India and then exported for sale around the world.
