Windows 11 seems to have a recurring problem with correctly mapping CPU usage while gaming, so Analytical software maker reports CapFrameX† The bug was discovered while playing Lara Croft Shadow of the Tomb Raider on Windows 11 Beta Channel version 22621; Windows 11 states via Event Tracing for Windows that the game only needs a few percent of the CPU. In reality, of course, a modern game requires slightly more computing power than that.
Now this seems to be a recurring issue in various versions of Windows 11. In October 2021, someone on the Microsoft forum reported a similar issue where task manager was requesting 100 percent CPU usage while other software was using 2 percent CPU usage. . Either way, something seems to be going wrong with the activity detection that Windows uses to gauge how hard certain components should be running. It’s unclear whether Microsoft is aware of the bug or if it’s a common issue.
