technology companies Microsoft and Oracle This Thursday, they announced a deal to further integrate their data storage services into the cloud, with which they hope to speed up the migration of their customers’ systems.

“Many of our customers had already partially moved to the cloud (…), but in fact most data has not yet been moved from your premises. But we know they will do it, and we want to accelerate that process,” Oracle co-founder Lawrence Ellison said during a presentation.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella He explained that the idea arose from customers themselves wanting a unified portal in Azure (Microsoft’s cloud) to access services from both companies.

The deal means Oracle databases will be located in Microsoft data centers, which the companies say will speed up access to different applications.
