Amazon says goodbye to passwords by enabling password

Passkeys offer a simpler and more secure alternative to logging into an account. This standard allows you to replace passwords with biometric security such as Touch ID, Face ID or PIN on your trusted devices.
Amazon has introduced support for toggle switches on iOS and the web.
Since Microsoft, Apple, and Google partnered to create toggle switches in 2022, the method has become known as: an option that users greater security when accessing their digital service accounts. In this sense, Dave Treadwell, Amazon’s senior vice president of e-commerce, said:
“This is about simultaneously offering customers both ease of use and security in their Amazon experience. While passwords will continue to be an issue for the foreseeable future, this is an exciting step in the right direction. We’re excited to be one of the first to do this.” By adopting this new authentication method, we are helping realize our vision of a more secure, password-free Internet.
To sign up for access keys for everyone when they become available on web and iOS, Amazon provides these instructions on how to get started using access keys in your account:
- log in In your Amazon account.
- Select bill.
- To choose Login and security.
- choose Configure next to Passwords.
- Follow the instructions step by step.
In May of this year, Google also announced that password keys can now be used across the company’s accounts, apps and services. Anyone who wants to try the password-free login experience can set it up in minutes. Apple integrated Passkeys into its iPhones with the release of iOS 16.3.
But, Most companies still keep account passwords, So the world won’t be free of codes for a while.
