Listening to music through headphones for a long time and continuously can damage your hearing and cause ear problems. Experts from the medical company Invitro found that it can also lead to earwax buildup and increase the risk of infection.
A study conducted as part of the American NHANES program confirms that headphones can negatively affect hearing. It included surveys and audiometric tests and included 3,583 participants aged 20 to 69 who regularly used headphones.
The results showed that men were more likely to experience hearing problems when using headphones, and this risk increased with age. According to the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO), experts recommend that the music volume should not exceed 85 decibels and that music should not be listened to for more than 60 to 80 minutes a day at this sound level. They also emphasize the importance of keeping your headphones clean to prevent earwax buildup and infections.
