Apple announced that it has no plans to develop a new 27-inch iMac computer model powered by its own processor. Instead, the company will focus on the currently available 24-inch screen size.

The 27-inch iMac was introduced in 2014, and although Apple offered models with different screen sizes, the company decided to discontinue this version without updating it with new processors designed by the technology giant known as Apple Silicon.

The company recently introduced the new 24-inch iMac at an event held on October 31. This model is equipped with the M3 chip and represents an upgrade from the 24-inch iMac released in 2021, which came with the M1 chip.

However, according to statements made to ‘The Verge’, Apple confirmed that it does not intend to update the 27-inch iMac with its own chip. The company will instead focus on developing new 24-inch models.

The 24-inch iMac sits between 21-inch models with 4K resolution and 27-inch models with 5K resolution, both equipped with Intel processors. It is important to note that the new computer does not include the top-end processor, but instead uses the basic chip of the new Apple Silicon series.

ten years ago, Apple has published a critique of Google’s operating system, Android, calling it a “mass tracking device.”

The assessment is contained in a January 2013 internal document sent by Apple’s Senior Vice President of Services Eddy Cue to the company’s CEO Tim Cook. The statement emerged amid the antitrust lawsuit facing Google.

In the text, Apple compares its approach to privacy to Google’s and highlights actions taken since 2007, such as changes to Google’s privacy policy that allow the aggregation of user data from all services. As well as a $22.5 million fine imposed by the United States Federal Trade Commission for user tracking in Apple’s browser, Safari.

Although the document mentions similar actions taken by other technology companies such as Facebook, Instagram, Microsoft and Twitter, its main focus is on the comparison between Apple and Google’s privacy strategies.

Google consolidates data from all its services, including voice search, Maps, Ads, and Calendar, through the user account, while Apple says it offers differentiated support for iCloud, the App Store, and the iTunes Store.

It also excludes services such as Siri, Maps and the iAd advertising platform from the scope of Apple ID. According to Apple, the merging of data from its services is done only “while providing a better customer experience.”

When it comes to voice assistance, Apple states that Google voice search is tied to the user account, while Siri only ties user data to the use of this assistant.

The document ensures that users have control over the persistence of their data and that personally identifiable data is never shared with third parties.
