Motorola achieved what Apple and Samsung couldn’t: an ultra-thin mobile phone with a terrible battery

Motorola introduced its next ultra-thin mobile phone. The manufacturer, which was once owned by Google, is weeks away from unveiling a new mobile phone that promises to compete with Samsung and Apple. The new Motorola Edge 70 not only represents a hardware upgrade, but also features an ultra-thin design and a battery that makes the Galaxy S25 Edge and iPhone Air look ridiculous.

A new teaser has appeared on the Motorola Polska website Motorola Edge 70 focused on their autonomy. Accompanied by the phrase “The future has an advantage” and an image of the battery, the manufacturer boasts that its mobile phone lasts up to 50 hours on a full charge. This will be possible as the Motorola Edge 70 debuts with Silicon-carbon battery with a capacity of 4800 mAh.

According to Motorola, the Edge 70 will provide several hours of use with just 15 minutes of charging. Support Fast charging TurboPower 68 W. This will allow you to finish watching a Netflix series or movie if your battery is low. This is in addition to 15W Qi2-compatible wireless charging, which was leaked along with other specifications thanks to GSMArena.

Motorola is betting on silicon-carbon batteries

Motorola defines Edge 70 as “impossibly thin” thanks to a body whose dimensions are similar to those of the Galaxy S25 Edge. Both are 5.8mm thick. The Edge 70 has the advantage of a 4,800mAh battery.. Unlike Samsung and Apple, Motorola has opted for silicon-carbon technology, which offers greater energy density and charging efficiency without sacrificing physical volume.

While brands like Vivo, Oppo, OnePlus and Xiaomi are already using them in their devices in China, the West is still waiting. Most manufacturers still prefer conventional lithium-ion batteries due to their cost, although this will change very soon. The Motorola Edge 70 will be one of the first phones with a silicon-carbon battery to be sold outside of Asia.

Apart from the battery specifications, Motorola’s website reveals that the mobile phone will also offer Camera 50 MPwater- and dust-resistant and a screen with Gorilla Glass i7 coating.
