A series of murders in Bilbao scared the whole of Spain. In recent months, police in that municipality have detailed as many as eight deaths with similar characteristics.

According to police reports, the victims were men who would be contacted by a gay social network.

After gaining the suspect’s trust, they met in bars and went to their victims’ homes, where he managed to give them liquid ecstasy, causing them to overdose on drugs. Before he died, he asked for bank account information and looted them.

In the same way of working, four cases were confirmed between September and December 2021. There are also four other similar crimes being investigated in the Basque Country.

While they seemed like the perfect crimes, the serial killer left clues that would start to give him away, as the bodies showed no obvious evidence of violence.
The brother of one of the victims discovered after the murder that his relative’s bank accounts were empty and all the money had been stolen. In this way, a second autopsy was performed on the body and death was determined to be the product of cardiorespiratory arrest after an overdose of liquid ecstasy.

Then the perpetrator attacked again, in the same way of working. In his previous speech, he revealed that he is Colombian, 25 years old, and has lived in Spain for three years. The man described himself as ‘Carlos’.
This time, who could be the fifth victim, he realized what was going on. There was a scuffle and ‘Carlos’ escaped. At home, however, he left a backpack in which police found documents and liquid ecstasy, which became a key clue in the investigation.
In recent days, Basque authorities showed an image of who the serial killer will be. And this Thursday, the suspect surrendered and pleaded guilty.
The detainee’s identity corresponds to the Colombian-born 25-year-old Nelson David MB.
