United States Department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement Announced that Application and Removal Operations (ERO) has begun limited testing of a monitoring device GPS.
The device is a watch and is part of efforts to provide additional technology in the Alternatives to Detention (ATD) suite of options.
Firstly, the project will be tested with a deployment in Denver to analyze feasibility in an operational environment.
“ERO is committed to continually improving and modernizing tools and technologies. to improve the way deportation officers comply with U.S. immigration laws.”said Corey A. Price, Executive Director of ERO.

Technology provides location tracking GPS, facial recognition and messaging functions as well. Additionally, it benefits from technology similar to a consumer smartwatch, but cannot be used for any function other than compliance with immigration-related activities.
