Animals like the octopus, the dolphin, the elephant, or even the dog itself, have glimmers of intelligence that make us wonder how we feel about them.

The closest animals to our species are monkeys. What if they evolved like us to become creatures as intelligent as humans?

This is the origin series “Planet of the Apes”whose classic films will premiere on Disney+ next year. May 27.

Like all good science fiction planet of the apes triggers an impossible premise, the existence of monkeys as intelligent as we arebut this is just an excuse to address real issues that concern us very much, such as racism, slavery, or how we treat others just for being different.

saga of planet of the apes It all started in 1963 with a book of the same name written by the Frenchman Pierre Boulle. A dystopia in which apes are the dominant species and humans are their slaves and servants, their pets.

The book was a great success thanks to its bold proposals, so it was made into a film in 1968 starring Charlton Heston.a sci-fi classic that left us with one of the most iconic images in film history:

Nearly 30 years later, the franchise is getting a reboot with filming new Planet of the Apes (2001)this time starring Mark Wahlberg and directed by Tim Burton.

This reboot was also liked, so three sequels followed: Origin of the Planet of the Apes (2011) Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014) and War for the Planet of the Apes (2017).

The franchise is owned by 20th Century Fox, which was bought by Disney. That is why the films of the saga can only be seen on Disney+.

All four contemporary films are currently available, but On May 27, the saga will end with the premiere of five classic Planet of the Apes films..
