It’s been a few weeks since the premiere. mission impossible 7but the film continues to give something to talk about. Not only because of his sensational stunts and action scenes, but also because director Christopher McQuarrie admits doing them forced them to break one of the strict creative rules that Tom Cruise imposed on each part of the franchise.
During his recent podcast appearance Scenario separatelydirector commented that Tom Cruise three rules to follow literally. Which? That the film opens with a scene involving Ethan Hunt, preferably on assignment, that the opening credits are shown later, and that the plot includes at least one deception using a mask.
However, mission impossible 7 he had to break with one of these premises. Something that wasn’t easy and made McQuarrie discuss it with Tom Cruise himself. Although the director was finally able to impose his vision and make an unexpected change: Let the movie start without showing Ethan Hunt.
Warning, spoilers ahead!
mission impossible 7 and historical twist for the franchise
“This is the first Mission impossible which does not open with Ethan Hunt. It was a very unusual detour. It was something that Tom [Cruise] and I really argued, and where we realized the importance of what we were doing, ”Christopher McQuarrie explained the curious determination. Why is it all?‘. Are you actually dating a movie villain?. You see the antagonist before you see the main character. And that was our logic: we introduced The Entity even though the public didn’t know what it was at the time, before we introduced Ethan.”
first scene from mission impossible 7 shows a Russian submarine testing a new type of artificial intelligence. Advanced technology tricks the crew into launching a torpedo and redirects it to the submarine itself, killing its crew and causing it to sink. As the film progresses, we learn that the AI in question, identified as Essencebecame conscious, and that this is a threat that Tom Cruise’s character intends to destroy.
The first act is different from the original
Christopher McQuarrie made it clear that Start mission impossible 7 It was different from what we later saw in the movies.. So the modification that resulted in Ethan Hunt not being featured in the first scene of the movie happened when filming was already moving forward. “When I restructured the first act, I had to do another scene where Ethan got the job,” he said.
As the director commented in another interview, his original idea was to open the film with an episode set in 1989. It will feature a very young Ethan Hunt and Tom Cruise will be digitally rejuvenated. However, the initiative was rejected due to the impossibility of achieving optimal results with this technology. Thus it was decided change focus and breaking one of the protagonist’s sacred rules: first introduce the villain – in this case the AI - and then the hero.
I wonder if there will be a sequel mission impossible 7 returns to the historical format of the franchise, and Ethan Hunt appears on the screen from the first minute. Death Court – Part 2 premiere scheduled for June 28, 2024.
