Variety has revealed that the showrunner of the TV series of HBO Max Dead Boy Detectives Sara Beth Schwartz, who helmed the DC Comics show on Arrow for the past two seasons, and who also created Sweeth Tooth. Schwartz will be joined as showrunner by Steve Yockey. The series can in some ways be considered a spin-off of The Sandman. The protagonists appeared in the comic for the first time Neil Gaiman

The show’s protagonists are George Rexstrew and Jayden Revri, who will play the characters of Edwin Payne and Charles Rowland, two dead brothers who befriend the young Crystal Palace. The show has been described as “a darker, more sour detective story”. The cast also includes Kassius Nelson (Last Night in Soho) who will play Crystal Palace, Briana Cuoco (The Flight Attendant, Harley Quinn) who will be Jenny, and Ruth Connell (Supernatural, Doom Patrol). The main characters have already made their debut in an episode of Doom Patrol.

Steve Yockey wrote the pilot episode of Dead Boys Detectives and will also be the showrunner of the project. Executive producers will be Yockey himself, along with Jeremy Carver, Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter. Berlanti Productions was also involved and Warner Bros. Lee Toland Krieger will direct the pilot episode.
