This origin story left no one indifferent. For this reason, at Hipertextual we wanted to ask the showrunner a question Rings of Power, Patrick McKayabout it and how it was created. “Very early on, in the writers’ room, when we were mapping out the entire 50-hour storyline of the show, we talked about the idea that at the beginning of this episode – and again, building on the pillars that included what Tolkien left us – Sauron “I went through a latent period,” he begins by explaining.
“He was missing and no one knew where he was. We liked the idea that maybe he had been suffering and dirty for a thousand years.
