Hollywood actress Scarlett Johansson filed a lawsuit against the developers of an application to create virtual avatars. The neural network-based app used an image of an actress from the film and a sample of her voice to create a self-promotion.
Actress Scarlett Johansson accused the developers of the Lisa AI: 90’s Yearbook & Avatar app of illegally using her image and voice. This was reported by Variety with reference to Johansson’s lawyers.
The indictment alleges that the app took images of Johansson from the movie “Black Widow,” processed them through a neural network and advertised its avatar creation service. The actress did not participate in the filming of the advertisement and did not accept the use of her image, the publication notes.
After the lawsuit was filed, the application developers deleted the publication with the advertising video. However, Lisa AI: 90’s Yearbook & Avatar can still be downloaded from Google Play and the App Store.
Actor Tom Hanks previously said his image was also illegally used in advertising videos generated by a neural network.
