During a recent interview, interpreter Freddie Prinze Jr. about a possible Scooby Doo 3 in R-Rated version. Since Prince Jr. Fred has played in previous films, her opinion could be quite relevant. The actor’s reaction was strong: “Right or wrong, they wouldn’t have the courage to do such a thing”. And the replica of James Gunn (writer of the two previous films) was not long in coming.
The filmmaker said:
I think we could make a movie like that if they asked us. But I don’t think I have enough time now!
It would be interesting to see James Gunn grapple with Scooby-Doo again, in an R-Rated movie that would allow him to unleash his kid-safe creative potential. Several years ago, Gunn himself revealed the subject of a Scooby-Doo 3 that never came to fruition. Here are his words:
The movie was about Mystery Inc. involved in an affair that took place in a Scottish town overrun by monsters. During the film, it was revealed that the monsters were the victims, and Scooby and Shaggy would have to come to terms with their own prejudices and beliefs.
