Morpheus, personification of dreams and protagonist of the series the sandman – which appears on Netflix today – is very similar to the character designed by Neil Gaiman in his comics, but the other characters and the setting stayed true to the original work? Let’s find out with an official video just released on YouTube by Netflix Italy.

Another world awaits us when we close our eyes to sleep… a place called the “dream kingdom”, where the dream lord Sandman (Tom Sturridge) shapes our deepest fears and fantasies. But when Dream is suddenly captured and held captive for a century, his absence sets off a series of events that will disrupt the world of sleep and wakefulness forever. To restore order, he will have to traverse universes and timelines to correct the mistakes he has made in his long existence, find old friends and enemies, and also meet new cosmic and human entities.
Based on the beloved and award-winning DC Comics comic book series written by Neil Gaiman, The Sandman is a rich interweaving of myth and dark fantasy filled with powerful characters that follow the adventures of Dream over the course of ten epic chapters. Development and executive production are in the hands of Gaiman, flanked by showrunner Allan Heinberg and David S. Goyer.
