Distribution house Zentropa announced this: Lars von Trier had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. The announcement stated that despite the news, the director is “in good spirits and has already undergone treatment for his symptoms. Lars Von Trier will continue work on the third and final season of The Kingdom.”
Zentropa also announced that Lars von Trier will participate in promotional events for the TV series. We remind you that The Kingdom Exodus will be screened at this year’s Venice Film Festival.
The series was launched in 1994. Its central theme is the events that take place in a hospital in Copenhagen. The story begins in a hospital in Denmark, called The Kingdom, where a medium is admitted. The cry of a little girl coming out of the elevator becomes the starting point for a story about disturbing events from the past.
The show was supposed to run for a total of three seasons, but the last one was never made until now because lead actors Ernst-Hugo Järegård and Kirsten Rolffes are dead.
