YouTube being seduced by the market streaming on demand. Google’s previous experiment – YouTube Red – did not yield the desired results, so much so that the company recently closed all divisions responsible for producing original movies and TV series. But apparently YouTube now wants to re-enter the streaming business from the window, as it were.

In fact, YouTube wouldn’t plan to create its own subscription service (there’s already Premium, which offers several tools, though), but would rather be working on some sort of hub / aggregator of all the services already on the market: from Netflix to Discovery+.

The Wall Street Journal reports: Google has been working on this project for about 18 months and is already negotiating with some potential partners. Users can use the YouTube application to browse the content of the various on-demand streaming services by purchasing the content packs they are interested in.

YouTube would try to convince some companies of the goodness of this initiative, which would allow the platforms to reach an even wider audience. For example, YouTube is already being used by users today to watch trailers of the latest news available on Prime Video or Netflix. The ability to purchase subscriptions with a simple tap from within the YouTube app can be a valuable resource. Obviously, partner companies will have to pay Google a percentage of all subscriptions made in this way.

The new platform wouldChannel StoreAnd according to the WSJ, it could debut as early as late 2022 in some regions.
