Mobile operators began to offer banking services to identify fraudulent schemes, so-called droppers, among clients participating in them.

MTS already provides services to banks and microfinance organizations to external individuals before providing services. Beeline already has a similar service for identifying likely droppers and other types of strict fraud. Tele 2 plans to include a dropper connection service between its subscribers and clients of other operators.

Droppers are people who act as intermediaries when starting fraudulent transactions. their accounts and cards were used to split, transfer and deprive citizens of guarantee funds.

MTS’s service works as follows. When creating a bank account, the user enters a phone number, the bank then sends it to check whether the client has “suspicious patterns of behavior” (for example, privately changing SIM cards or identifying resources).

The Beeline service “incorporates machine learning models” that can recognize suspicious actions by clients. [Коммерсантъ]
