Presented in competition at the 61st Cannes Critique Semaine 2022, Everyone loves Jeanne is a comedy that treats the delicate theme of depression with originality, staging all those “toxic thoughts” that often define life.

Here, Céline Devaux is a director and illustrator, giving life to a long-haired ghost who, like a kind of modern talking cricket, becomes the voice of Jeanne’s conscience, played by Blanche Gardin. The cast also includes Laurent Lafitte in the role of Jean, an extravagant and slightly pushy high school friend whom Jeanne finds by accident after so many years.

Short content:
Everyone has always loved Jeanne, but now she hates herself.
Jeanne is truly determined to change the world, so she invents a device to clean up the oceans, but during the launch ceremony, Jeanne herself ends up in the water trying to recover her invention. After this sensational flop on live television, all her financiers withdraw, leaving her bankrupt. To pay off her debts, she is forced to sell her childhood home in Lisbon. While wondering about this difficult decision, she is suddenly flanked by “a little long-haired ghost”, who comments on her every move. The little ghost is lonely, funny, sings and dances, and does not hesitate to whisper obscenities in Jeanne’s ears, practically becoming the voice of her conscience that never leaves her.
