Recently interviewed, the actor John Boyega has stated that he is not interested in returning to work in the franchise Star Wars after being part of the new trilogy released between 2015 and 2019. The actor said he “feels good outside of the franchise”.

Here are his words:

Right now I’m happy to stay out of it, I’m fine with that. I think Finn’s character was developed in such a way that it can be portrayed in other media, from animation to video games. So I think what I did during the trilogy is enough.

And then he added:

I’ve found allies in Joel Taylor, Jamie Foxx, Teyonah Parris, Viola Davis, all of whom I’ve worked with. And I believe that versatility is the ideal way for me.

These statements come years after the actor spoke out about the idea that his character was being overlooked because of color. Here’s what John Boyega told GQ a few years ago:

When you’re involved in a project, you don’t necessarily have to like everything. But what I’d say to Disney is not to focus on a black character, which makes him one of the main protagonists commercially, which isn’t the case in the movie. We knew what to do with Daisy Ridley and Adam Driver, when they knew nothing about Kelly Marie Tran and John Boyega. What do you want me to say? They want you to say ‘Yes, it was a good experience’, but it isn’t. They gave all colors to Adam Driver and Daisy Ridley. Daisy knows, and so does Adam. I’m not saying anything new.
