The Hollywood Reporter revealed that: Matt Shakman is no longer the director of Star Trek 4news bringing the filmmaker closer and closer to the Marvel project on Fantastic 4. In fact, yesterday the news of the negotiations between the House of Ideas and Shakman was spread, and now that the director is no longer working on the new chapter of Star Trek, the hypothesis that he can direct the Marvel feature film is taking more and more body.

Paramount released an official statement regarding Matt Shakman’s shutdown of the project, saying:

We’re saddened that Matt won’t be directing the next chapter of Star Trek, given that we’re talking about a very talented filmmaker. But we are grateful for all the contribution he has made, and we are excited about the creative vision that is taking shape for the new film. We look forward to delivering the next chapter to audiences around the world.

Shooting for Star Trek 4 is set to begin at the end of this year. We will soon know if there are any changes to the plans. While for the Fantastic 4 movie, the release date is set for December 22, 2023.
