Last night, the highly anticipated Prime Video series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power paid tribute to JRR Tolkien by concluding its epic worldwide UK tour with the world premiere in London’s Leicester Square. The London premiere was the final stop of the world tour that hit five cities, starting in Los Angeles, moving on to Mexico City, Mumbai and New York, and finally ending with the premiere on Tuesday in historic Leicester Square.

A riveting ring-shaped red carpet took cast, crew and guests on a journey through history through the five realms of Middle-earth, interacting with media and fans on the path leading to the entrance to the Odeon Luxe and Cineworld cinema in Leicester. .

In the center of the circular tapestry, more than 600 meters long, stood out a structure, 12 meters high and handmade, representing the five kingdoms explored in the series: the elven capital of Lindon; the kingdom of the dwarves of Khazad-dûm; the island of the kingdom of Númenor; the southern lands, the world of the people and the wilderness, home of the Pelopiedi. Five custom lanterns for the five respective kingdoms lit the tapestry with five different light sources each: fire and coal for the dwarves, fireflies for the Pelopedes, oil lamps from the island kingdom of Númenor, lanterns from the Southern people, and elven glow.
A natural environment has been created with a multitude of plants, grass, moss, vines and 100 towering trees. The multi-level environment, which mimics the mountainous and hilly topography of the world from the series, enjoyed various elevations and vantage points, with greenery that will then be reused after the event for future use.

The historic British Museum in London was the glorious setting for the after-party of the premiere of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, the highly anticipated Prime Video series that debuts on September 2. Founded in 1753, the British Museum has a collection of over 8 million objects, including one of the most important collections of certain materials that inspired JRR Tolkien. This historic site has been transformed into a tribute to the legacy of Tolkien’s iconic works, transporting guests to the magical worlds he created.
The exterior of the iconic museum provided a beautiful backdrop for the arrival of the premiere guests. The red carpet, decorated with golden elfin script, extended to the top of the stairs, where towering columns were decorated with gold leaf inspired by the kingdom of Lindon. Inside, to celebrate the launch of The Rings of Power, series composer Bear McCreary conducted a 13-piece orchestra, 10 Taiko drums and 21 vocalists, in a live performance of a composition created especially for the premiere.
McCreary’s performance took place on the steps of the Great Court, around the famous Round Reading Room, a hall completed in 1857 that became a world-renowned educational venue at the heart of the museum.
