Yandex will test driverless taxis using new transformer technologies until the end of 2025, said company CEO Alexander Anikin in an interview with RBC.
This technology allows you to predict the trajectory of a car based on neural networks. The Yandex division responsible for the development of unmanned vehicles introduced this architecture six months ago.
In 2026, Yandex expects to receive permission from the Moscow Department of Transport to launch an unmanned taxi in the capital. The cars will drive independently, without a test driver at the wheel.
At the first stage, 100 cars will be available, which will only be able to drive in certain regions. Trips in self-driving cars will be randomly assigned, and the consequences will be the same as in a chauffeured taxi. [РБК]
