The decision to change fate

Three elves dedicated to finding the Dark Lord Sauron tried to convince a stranger in the past he couldn’t remember. Eventually, they confronted him and ended up shrinking him under the pretense that he still couldn’t use his powers. Everything, after the confrontation, in which it is clear that the alien has abilities related even to the control of wind and fire.

As an apparent “protection”, the unnamed man was tied up and immobilized. Later, the three creatures decided that at dawn they would go to the mysterious lands of the Rune Lands. They will establish the true identity of the stranger.

But as soon as a small group of hairy people encounter a trio of elves, it becomes clear that the stranger’s personality is different. Convinced that he is only capable of evil, he initially refuses to use his powers while Poppy, Marie, and Sadoku are threatened with fire. “Well done, you came to help” Nori insists. – I’m completely sure of it.

The man who fell from the stars finally accepts the opportunity to decide on his powers and gets up. When confronted by a trio of white-suited beings, he demonstrates similar abilities, as well as a more or less clear idea of how to use them. It is then that the Dweller realizes her mistake. “It’s not about Sauron, it’s about something else, Istari”, a word that defines wizards or sages in Elvish. Finally, the stranger not only pushes them away, but also forces them to return and finally run.

A phrase worth a thousand years of wisdom

Rings of Power

At the end of the episode, it becomes clear what the real identity of the stranger is. Back at the caravan, Nori decides to accompany her dear friend. Fate? Lands of Rune; in which, hypothetically, you will find the place where it comes from, and more answers about its nature.

Later, as they hit the road, Nori explains that she doesn’t know where to go. So, Istari sniffs the air and explains that “he is driven by a delicious scent”. As if the reference is not obvious, the wizard then adds the classic phrase to Tolkien’s images. “When in doubt, follow your nose”which shows, at least outwardly, that It’s about Gandalf. At least his younger, inexperienced version.

Of course, this is a revelation that contradicts Tolk’s mythology. According to British texts, Gandalf is not present at any events of the Second Age.. According to some texts of the writer, only the so-called “blue wizards” are present in that era.

In fact, there is a certainty in Gandalf’s arrival that only includes will arrive in Middle-earth in the Third Age. The same will happen in the ports of Mithlond. Could it be one of the mysterious blue Istari about which Tolkien gave very little information in his writings? However, it seems that Rings of Power He has his own ideas about it. This includes the inclusion of a new version of Gandalf’s origin story “The Grey”.
