For many, Doctor Strange (2016) is the most entertaining Marvel movie ever. This is logical because it has great lead actor (Benedict Cumberbatch) and because the movie revolves around magic, not power and punch as it does in the rest of the cinematic universe.
For this reason: with a mystique, a good script, great special effects, and an actor who consumes the entire screen in every frame, Doctor Strange is one of those Marvel movies that feels like something else. Now we are waiting for the premiere of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Known to many as Doctor Strange 2 (because the original title brings it to you, to be honest), this sequel is set to be a big Disney premiere in 2022, which begs the question: Will it come to Disney+ as a stream after it’s released in theaters? Let’s look at the background.
When is Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness coming to Disney Plus? Short answer: Disney hasn’t officially announced when exactly Doctor Strange 2 will be coming to Disney+. But that doesn’t mean we can’t speculate based on the way Disney Plus works.
In 2021 and 2022, three Marvel movies hit Disney+ the day they were released or a couple of months after. On the same day in July, Black Widow premiered and hit Disney Plus at the same time as theaters.
In September, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings Arrived to theaters and then to Disney Plus after more than two months (70 days). In November, Eternal was released in theaters as well came to Disney+ in two months (68 days).
Does this mean we can expect Doctor Strange 2 to hit Disney Plus sometime in July? If we add 70 days from its launch on May 6th, it will be somewhere between July 15th and July 30th.
But that could be delayed even further if the end of Ms. Marvel (which starts on June 8) on Disney+ comes into play, as well as the theatrical release of Thor: Love and Thunder on July 8. We are confident that they will arrive on Disney+, the exact date is unknown.
