Disney + released the trailer for Rise – The True Story of Antetokounmpothe movie based on the true story of the extraordinary family from which comes the first trio of brothers to become champions NBA: Giannis and Thanasis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks and Kostas Antetokounmpo of the Los Angeles Lakers, and their younger brother Alex. Here’s the trailer for Rise – The True Story of Antetokounmpo.

The public has never seen a story like Antetokounmpo’s. After immigrating to Greece from Nigeria, Vera and Charles Antetokounmpo (Yetide Badaki and Dayo Okeniyi, respectively) struggled to survive and care for their five children, while living with the daily threat of repatriation. With their eldest son still in Nigeria along with some relatives, the couple were desperate for Greek citizenship, but bureaucracy stood in the way of any attempt. While not busy selling souvenirs on the streets of Athens with the rest of the family, brothers Giannis (Uche Agada) and Thanasis (Ral Agada) played basketball with a local youth team. The two, already great at the sport, discovered their amazing skills on the basketball court late and worked hard to become world famous athletes, along with their brother Kostas (Jaden Osimuwa). With the help of an agent, Giannis entered the NBA Draft in 2013 with the goal of staying there for a long time; an important step that would change not only his life, but that of his entire family. Last season, Giannis and Thanasis helped the Milwaukee Bucks get their first league ring in 50 years, while Kostas played with the previous season’s champions, the Los Angeles Lakers.

Rise – The True Story of Antetokounmpo stars Dayo Okeniyi, Yetide Badaki, Manish Dayal, Taylor Nichols, with Ral Agada and Uche Agada appearing for the first time. The film was directed by Akin Omotoso (Vaya), written by Arash Amel (A Private War) and produced by Bernie Goldmann (300). Giannis Antetokounmpo and Douglas S. Jones are the executive producers.
