Sky has released the official Italian trailer of winning timethe series by Adam McKay (don’t look up succession The big gamble) and HBO branded the decade that made the Los Angeles Lakers the brightest star in the basketball firmament in the world. Coinciding with the departure of the NBA Finals on June 2, the ten episodes of the series can all be seen exclusively on Sky Atlantic from 9:15 p.m. and can only be streamed on NOW (the broadcast will follow, every Thursday with two episodes).

The cast is very rich: John C. Reilly as the owner of the team, Jerry Buss; Jason Clarke as NBA Champion and Lakers Manager Jerry West; Quincy Isaiah and Solomon Hughes play Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar respectively. Alongside them Jason Segel (How I Met Your Mother) in the role of Paul Westhead, a literature professor who became the team’s assistant coach; Adrien Brody plays coach Pat Riley; Michael Chiklis as Boston Celtics coach Red Auerbach; and Sally Field as Jessie Buss, mother of Jerry Buss.

Winning Time is based on the book Showtime: Magic, Kareem, Riley, and the Los Angeles Lakers Dynasty of the 1980s by sportswriter Jeff Pearlman, written by Max Borenstein (Godzilla) and produced by Adam McKay, who also directed the first episode.

Synopsis of the series:
Beginning with the arrival of the unbeatable Earvin ‘Magic’ Johnson in 1979, ‘Showtime’ kicks off the NBA’s golden age as the Los Angeles Lakers become basketball legends, unleashing their famous run-and-gun style in a league that isn’t prepared for their speed and ferocity, becoming the most captivating show in the sports world and, arguably, in the entire entertainment universe.
The Lakers decade has been spectacular: the (sometimes insane) decisions of millionaire team owner Jerry Buss, the arrival of Magic Johnson, Jerry West’s headers, Pat Riley’s playing choices, and the birth of a true sports dynasty. A show in which scene and background are intertwined: gaming, HIV positive, fame, racial discrimination.
