The director of Il Corvo and Dark City, Alex Proyasis developing a thriller/horror film titled Sister Darkness It’s a return to the filmmaker’s roots, who will work on the production of the project with the Heretic Foundation, Mystery Clock Cinema and 108 Media.
The story of Sister Darkness has been described as a female gothic horror set in 1930s UK, a time of marginalization for women. The main character is called Alice, and has a double figure represented by Isla, a character whose existence is linked to a mystery related to a gory story.
It seems that Alex Proyas was inspired to make this film by feature films from the sixties and seventies such as The Innocents and The Legend of Hell House. The production budget is around $35 million, and will be based on a script by Proyas himself. Sister Darkness will be filmed in Australia between 2022 and 2023, and will use a type of visual effects curated by VFX studio Heretic Foundation.
