A few days from the big showcase Xbox and Bethesda (and hopefully in the future Activision too), Microsoft shared some details about the future of their gaming platforms. And yes, we are talking about platforms within the Xbox ecosystem, because in addition to the console, PC and cloud, Microsoft is going to bring its video games to other platforms as well.

The company took the opportunity to announce a lot of news and thus focus on video games during its showcase, with great interesting announcements for those already in the Xbox ecosystem and those thinking about making the leap.

There are two very important announcements that open up new opportunities for gamers and once again show that Microsoft has no competitors in this ecosystem. As such, the company has announced that Xbox Cloud Gaming is reaching Samsung TVs. For now, players will only be able to play games available on Game Pass Ultimate (if enabled in the cloud). without a console, all through the Xbox app, all you need is a gamepad.

The second major announcement, which will represent a fundamental change for the future not only for Game Pass, but also for cloud gaming, is the ability to add games you already own, even if they are not officially available in the catalog.

Add games to the cloud even if they’re not on Xbox Game Pass

Microsoft called this feature transfer your games to Xbox Cloud Gaming. And although the data, according to the company, is somewhat scarce, they will arrive at the end of this year.

This feature will allow Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members to play games they already own or have purchased outside of the Xbox Game Pass library from the cloud. In other words, it extends cloud gaming to out-of-catalog games that just left the service but that players have purchased from their library.

The operation is unknown, but it is assumed to work the same way as the system scan the games you already own for backwards compatibility or add Xbox Series X|S versions to games available in our catalog.

This is a fundamental change for the future of cloud gaming as it expands beyond the platform’s temporary directory and allows players to go beyond the list of games provided by the company.

Which games will support this feature is still unknown. Also, will it be all the games available for the Xbox catalog regardless of their availability in Xbox Game Pass, or will it be a list cloud compatibility to which new headings are gradually added. Again, the movement seems to be backwards compatible.

New gaming features for Windows 11

Another great new feature is the inclusion of new video game-centric features for PC and Windows 11 users. Microsoft’s latest operating system offers optimizations for windowed gaming designed to greatly reduce latency and Additional features such as Auto HDR and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR).

This is currently a limited functionality for Windows Insiders. Windows 11 will also include a new HDR calibration app that will allow gamers to improve the color accuracy and consistency of their HDR displays.

Xbox Cloud Gaming arrives in Argentina

Speaking of cloud gaming, one of the big Xbox announcements today is that Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) will launch in Argentina and New Zealand on June 9th.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers in Argentina and New Zealand will be able to play hundreds of cloud games on Android phones and tablets, iOS devices, Windows PCs, Xbox Series X consoles | S and Xbox One.

In addition, players in Argentina and New Zealand will also have access to Fortnite with Xbox Cloud Gaming for free and without a subscription.
