A serious road accident has shocked residents of Melgar. A Mazda CX60 vehicle fell into a cliff on the road from this municipality to Carmen de Apicalá in Tolima and exploded after reaching the bottom of the cliff.
In the first versions announced by the authorities, it is stated that at least two people died in this traffic accident. It was introduced at 11.40 on the night of December 31, when the country said goodbye to 2023.

The emergency occurred on the Apicalá bridge, on the Melgar-Carmen road in Apicalá, Tolima, when the car fell into the abyss for unknown reasons.

Police officials were on that road and according to information received from Carmen de Apicalá Volunteer Firefighters, one of the victims bears the name Andrés Felipe Euse Guzmán.
Carmen de Apicalá Volunteer Firefighters are carrying out the rescue efforts of the damaged vehicle in coordination with the Transit and Transport Secretaries and the Melgar Government.
