A few days ago, we were asked by Nintendo employees not to play the Nintendo Switch in very hot environments because the console is not ready to withstand such high temperatures. If the Switch was turned off in the middle of a game, that was our responsibility.

Now it’s the turn of the Valve console/computer, which has a more powerful cooling system, although not enough for the heat that we have in the country.

Valvevia official tweet, advised Steam Deck owners not to play with their devices outdoors in hot weather. The warning comes as a result of a heat wave that is brewing across Europe.

The Steam Deck manufacturer emphasizes that the portable device works best at an ambient temperature of zero to 35 degrees Celsius.. If the temperature exceeds the limit, the Steam Deck itself reduces performance to protect itself.

Valve explains it quad-core AMD APU inside Steam Deck runs smoothly up to 100 degrees Celsius. As soon as the temperature exceeds this threshold, Steam Deck slows down the chip.

At worst when the temperature reaches 105 degrees Celsius, the steam deck turns off completely to prevent overheating and preserve the integrity of the device.

Valve is not the first manufacturer to advise its customers not to use their devices in scorching conditions. A week earlier, as we said, Nintendo took to Twitter with a similar warning to Nintendo Switch owners.

And like its American counterpart, The Japanese manufacturer also considers 35 degrees Celsius to be the safest ambient temperature. Nintendo also recommended that Switch users clean the air intakes and exhaust vents.
