On the occasion of today’s Nintendo Direct, the big N announced the arrival of Fire Emblem Engage with trailer and release date. The new chapter of the critically acclaimed JRPG series will be available from January 20, 2023. The trailer, which lasts 3 minutes, allows us to check out some gameplay sequences and new characters.
Fire Emblem Engage is set in Elyos, a continent made up of four kingdoms surrounding a sacred land. A thousand years ago, a fierce conflict broke out between the people of Elyos and the Evil Dragon. During the war, the inhabitants of Elyos summoned heroes from other worlds, the emblems, to fight alongside them. Thanks to their help, the warriors of the different nations fought as one, and finally managed to capture the evil dragon. Now, however, several dark omens point to his return.
Besides giving some hints of the story, the video also shows us some gameplay sequences which maintains the setting and many of the features of the previous chapters of the series.
We read the official description of the game:
Take on the role of Alear, the divine dragon, who awoke a thousand years after the war with no memory of the past. Answer the call and fight alongside your allies in tactical battles to prevent the return of the Evil Dragon.
Empower yourself on the battlefield by summoning emblems encased in special emblem rings, including Marth, Celica and other heroes from previous Fire Emblem titles. With these rings, Alear and his allies can harness the power of the emblems, improve their stats or use even stronger skills. Heroes can also interact with emblems, combine their power with theirs and unlock unique attacks.
A great adventure begins! Get to know each country’s allies and enemies, discover the emblems in the rings, and strengthen your bond as you fight to protect the world.
