In 1982, Robert Wardhow was a teenager with a passion for epic fantasy. Like many other young people of that time, he fell in love Dungeons and Dragons RPGgreat predecessor.
That same year, he started a game with his friends… which hasn’t ended yet. 40 years later The longest Dungeons and Dragons game in history continues in his basement. He is no longer a shy teenager, but a respected professor of history at Western University in Canada.
Robert Wardhoe bought a house with a basement to set up his role play, which requires several square feet of stages.
As he explains on his website, throughout his life he collected over 30,000 miniatureswhich has been hand painted in detail. That’s why he doesn’t let anyone touch them while playing. It is he who, acting as the Dungeon Master or game director, moves them around the set.
Character death is permanent, so if a player loses all of their characters, they are out, even if they have been playing for years. For 40 years after About 50 people participated, about 500 characters died.
Some of his childhood friends still play the game one or two days a week. They deal with the children or grandchildren of the original characters.
Younger players were also included, as is the case with Robert Wardhow’s own daughterwho started playing this game at the age of 6 and now, 14 years later, continues to play.
