Windows 11: WinRAR announces native RAR support

During Build 2023, Microsoft announced that Windows 11 will have native support for RAR archives. Later, popular WinRAR app reacted to the latest news with a Twitter post.

For anyone who has been using the internet since the early 2000s, WinRAR was an essential program for online file sharing. The main function of the application is to archive, encrypt and compress all content folders in a single file.

Even with a few competitors like the .7z, The software has always been among the best applications for Windows.. Undoubtedly, hundreds of thousands of people have used the program at least once to open any file on their PC.

Curiously, WinRAR recognized with “40-day trial period” warning. However, people have found many ways over the last 20 years to bypass trial software and continue using it without purchasing an official license.

When will native RAR support come to Windows 11?

According to Microsoft, Windows 11 will get native support for RAR files in Moment 3 update. The package, which has several new features, last quarter of 2023.

Despite everything, There is no information on whether the operating system will offer the same advanced features as WinRAR.. For example, encrypting and compressing files, adding passwords, and decompressing other content formats.

It is worth noting that Windows 11 only supports ZIP format by default. However, advanced features such as password compression are only available in enterprise editions.
