The event date has been moved from July to August 2023. The reason for this decision is the need for additional testing and the complexity of ballistics and navigation support.

Currently, the Luna-25 instrument is undergoing its final test cycle on Earth, including simulating a soft landing on the lunar surface.

This task will be the first Russian project of this level since 1976. It involves sending an automated lunar probe to explore the moon’s south pole region near the Boguslavsky crater.

It should be noted that earlier the launch of the Luna-25 was planned before the end of summer 2022, then before the end of the same year. After that, the launch was delayed to July 13, 2023, and now suddenly it has been delayed again to August.

In the future, the Luna-26, Luna-27 and Luna-28 missions are planned to be carried out with the astronauts landing on the Earth’s natural satellite within 10 years.
