Oppo has made a new announcement. mixed reality glasses designed for developerspromises to help build technology-driven apps and experiences. The device was unveiled during Augmented World Expo (AWE) 2023, held in Santa Clara, United States on Wednesday (31).
called MR Glass Developer Edition, The headset is powered by Snapdragon XR2+ processorQualcomm’s most powerful chip for mixed reality solutions combining augmented and virtual reality tools. The technology is being cited as “the next computing platform” by the Chinese brand.
The model includes two screens that support 120 Hz refresh rate and two RGB front cameras. The SuperVOOC technology developed by the brand, which offers higher loading speeds, is also available in equipment as well as pancake lenses.
There are also two joysticks (one for each hand) with which the user can better handle the games and applications developed for the system. Another feature found in Oppo MR Glass Developer Edition is the heart rate sensor.Allows assessment of physical state during activities in the mixed reality universe.
No end-user sales
Firstly, Oppo’s new mixed reality glasses will be released exclusively in China and only for developers and companiesis not available to the end user. The kit will be part of the Snapdragon Spaces program and will be distributed via EnlightXR in the second half of this year.
The brand has not confirmed whether the MR Glass Developer Edition will be made available in other countries and has not disclosed details on the price of the product. It was also not disclosed whether the hardware of this model could be used in future commercial versions of the equipment.
It is worth remembering that the Chinese company has other products in the augmented reality segment, such as Air Glass and Air Glass 2 glasses, which were announced at the end of last year. Already Apple is about to launch its first headset, which is expected to be released at the conference WWDC 2023.
