The authors of the new scientific study analyzed data from 1157 people who donated blood over three years. It turned out that heart attacks and strokes were most common in those who regularly consumed sweeteners, including erythritol.

Scientists believe that this sweetener leads to the formation of clots that can clog blood vessels.
