I watched the new series “Fubar” with Schwarzenegger and was upset. It’s a failure

At the end of May, a new series “Fubar” was released on Netflix, starring the legendary action movie star of the 80s and 90s Arnold Schwarzenegger.

It was a spring occasion to see the new product and share my impressions with you.

By the way, this is the first Iron Arnie television project in which he plays a major role.

Schwarzenegger is no longer the same

What is the series about: CIA agent Luke Brunner is expected to attack, but during the last assignment, it unexpectedly turns out that his daughter is also secretly working for the CIA. From this point of view, work is to be done in the report.

The plot of the film vaguely resembles one of the best action movies of the 90s with the same Schwarzenegger. Therefore, film buffs should not compare the new series to James Cameron’s “True Lies”.

The fact that Schwarzenegger played Harry Tasker, hiding from his family the fact that he is a secret agent. And despite the fact that the film will celebrate its thirtieth anniversary next year, it looks much cooler and more interesting than the new Netflix.

The series was filmed by several cool directors at once, who took part in famous projects such as Breaking Bad, Ozark, Jack Reacher, Dexter. But they absolutely did not cope with the screenwriting skills provided. The movie looks stupid and ridiculous, and at times frankly delusional.

The series is practically there is nothing memorable, entertaining and causing positive emotions.

There is no subtle banter and irony of “True Lies” here, only a lot of stupid flat repetitive jokes, sometimes the viewer is ashamed. The carefree comedy style, set from the very first minute, falls into an outright farce and a bad parody.

Already in the second series, poor Arnie is supplied with jokes about men who are constantly being extracted, several times in the current series. He’s joking, shame on you. We do not recommend watching the series with children.

There is no whirlwind action here that could surprise the sophisticated entertainment. Obviously the budget is low. absolutely implausible scenes and a complete lack of scale drive, dealing with Cameron’s film.

Everything looks very natural, a couple of shootouts per series and no more. In addition, the cameraman provided to the chair filmed almost the entire series with a completely stationary camera. In 2023, it looks very archaic.

There are no major or minor manifestations here. Each episode, the viewer will have to watch the family squabbles between father and daughter. But then you start to get tired of it.

besides waiting absolutely ridiculous jokes three secret assistants to the main characters. These non-charismatic, inadequate characters with a very bad sense of humor often look like outright idiots and “mommy stand-ups”.

Those who remember True Lies well will agree that any witty dialogue of the main plot with the partner played by Tom Arnold completely carries out all these endless stupid antics and jokes.

No normal humor, no action, no interesting features. What then does the viewer get? Only tired grandfather, who is very difficult to move in the frame.

This series is a real torture for Schwarzenegger. And for us too

Very noticed that Arnold noticed he passed in a comfortable form. For the manifestation of Arnold’s heroes, they are invincible, muscular, healthy, capable of surrounding the enemy with their fists, or using any kind of influence, whether it be a minigun or an AV-8B harrier.

But in the series, you see that the actor even bends down hard, not to mention some tricks and fights. Therefore, the rarity of action scenes with the main character Draw unconvincing and implausible.

For example, a colleague and former rival in the acting department, Sylvester Stallone, still looks solid in the TV series King of Tulsa, but Schwarzenegger, at 76, is already frankly bad.

Of course, the branded disgruntled Austrian squint has not gone away, and the actor evokes notes of nostalgia for the first couple of episodes of grimace. Bet on the actor here just did not work. I want to stop pestering the old man and let him go on a well-deserved rest.

Watching the series can only be recommended to true fans of the acting talent of Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Finishing the parallels with “True Lies”, I note that the film looked original and interesting, but “Fubar” is secondary, predictable and boring. Many scenes and dialogue appear redundant, dramatic and inappropriate.

There’s no need for a second season.

This is not a spy thriller, but spoken comedy, which in some places falls down melodramatic rubbish. There are few normal jokes here, some of them generally took place in the form of events of references that only experts on the career of the great Arnie caught.

The case when the second season is definitely not needed here, everything is spoiled already in the first. With a good script idea, the Netflix showrunners made an absolutely formulaic and disappointing project, which I personally advise you to avoid.
