Jeff Bezos bought Amazon shares for the first time in 20 years: just one piece

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos increased his stake in the company for the first time since 2002. The billionaire bought an Amazon share for $115, Bezos said in a filing with the SEC.

Bezos hasn’t bought Amazon stock in 20 years, Bloomberg notes. Currently, the Amazon founder owns 9.7% of the company’s shares and controls another 2.9% of the shares, which are owned by his ex-wife Mackenzie Scott.

Forbes estimates Bezos’s fortune at $146.2 billion, he ranks third in the list of the richest people on the planet.

For the last 20 years, Jeff Bezos has only sold shares in the company he founded. During this time, the billionaire has earned around $30 billion from the sale of Amazon shares. With this money, Bezos finances many of his projects, including the space tourism startup Blue Origin.
