Andreessen Horowitz’s cryptocurrency division will open its first office outside the US. a16z Europe will be based in London. The company will be led by Andreessen Horowitz general partner Shriram Krishnan, who previously acted as an adviser to Elon Musk on Twitter.
While we still have a lot of work to do, we believe the UK is on the right track to lead the way in cryptocurrency regulation.
As early as 2024, a16z plans to host a cryptocurrency accelerator program for startups in cooperation with the UK government and several major UK universities. The opening of a16z in London is a major victory for UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who has repeatedly announced plans to make the country a hub for Web3 companies.
