Mikhail Volkov, General Director of Russian Post, spoke about the priority strategic objectives of the company. Among them, the will to enter new markets and become a key logistics operator for electronic commerce, turning its offices into multi-brand collection points for large marketplaces, as well as for small and medium-sized companies.
“First of all, of course, we set ourselves the task of becoming a leading logistics partner nationwide for all participants in the e-commerce market,” Interfax quotes Volkov with reference to an interview with the speaker on the channel RBC television.
The high demand for expansion of Russian Post’s logistics capacity in the regions is a promising opportunity for the company to increase revenue by providing a “bundled logistics and financial offer” (including Post Bank services).
Post offices in the near future may become multi-brand collection points, since agreements have already been closed with the largest marketplaces, Volkov assures.
Let us remember that since April 2023 Correos has issued Ozon orders. The company is also testing electric vehicles to deliver packages in the regions and moving packages with drones to drone ports.
The public limited company intends to continue looking for those directions and markets, “in which the company has not previously worked, or has not done so actively”.
New solutions, segments and sources of income are needed to level the main problems of the postal business: “for obvious reasons, given the digitization of our lives, the amount of income (from sending letters – ed.) is falling year by year. ”
Over time, this decline will only accelerate due to the restrictions of the sanctions: “in three years, the volume of the company’s import revenue has been cut in half.”
