The Ministry of Digital Development has established a working group under the State Radio Frequency Commission (SCRF) to establish rules on the use of systems to combat drones in the Russian Federation. In particular, it will identify uses of the radio spectrum.
In addition to officials of the State Radio Frequency Committee, it will include representatives of fuel and energy complex enterprises, mobile operators and specialized scientific institutes. The need to regulate the work of jammers has arisen in connection with the increased use of uncontrolled applications at all levels of government, beginning in 2022. Combat drones equipment is used not only by law enforcement, it is bought by municipal authorities and large enterprises.
This leads to interference already for the mobile Internet, and in the future – for the equipment of the security forces. Jammers, Wi-Fi – the 2.4 GHz frequency used by routers is commonly used to control drones – and can also interfere with wireless control systems for industrial equipment and security systems.
Anti-drone jammers affect all cellular frequency bands – depending on the type of device this can affect several kilometers. Problems will also arise with landline communication devices operating at frequencies of five to six gigahertz used by law enforcement, among other things.
