About 80% of bloggers do not plan to switch to Rutube, the remaining 20% use the platform as a spare or additional, showed a survey conducted by Kokos Group, the results of which were reviewed by RB.RU.

Russian bloggers don’t want to switch to Rutube – survey

The company’s research showed that even after the blockade of foreign social networks, bloggers were not prepared to make a massive switch to their usual sites. The vast majority (98%) continued to develop their channels on prohibited social networks.

Despite the low popularity of Rutube, the demand for another domestic platform – VK – has grown for both text and video bloggers. About 80% of those surveyed have already switched to the platform or plan to do so in the near future. However, only about 30% of them consider VK to be the main platform.

The main reason for the reluctance to switch to national platforms is unclear prospects in terms of growth in the audience of the platforms (as said by 70% of respondents). Another 25% declared their reluctance to comply with censorship (in Rutube, for example, there is pre-moderation of videos).

Among those who decided to switch to national platforms, the main reasons for this decision were (multiple choice) the creation of a replacement platform (85%), the additional audience coverage (40%), the desire to use the economic incentives that appeared (12%).

Around 30,000 bloggers who collaborate with Kokos Group participated in the survey. The study was conducted in June 2023.
