The sportswear brand Puma changed its CEO in Russia on May 26. They became Miroslav Ryba, who had already headed this office in 2010-2020, Kommersant learned.

The Puma brand appointed the new CEO of the division in Russia

He previously held the same position for more than two years at Puma Nordic, which is responsible for brand development in Sweden, Norway and Finland. The previous general director of the Russian office of Puma, Victoria Pigalskaya, held this position for about four months.

The appointment could be part of the retailer’s plans to reopen in Russia or close business permanently, experts say.

In the spring of 2023, New Balance and Puma filed lawsuits against several Russian businessmen at once, according to the arbitration case file. Companies intend to recover compensation for infringement of exclusive trademark rights:

  • New Balance immediately filed two lawsuits in the amount of 95 thousand rubles against Krasnoyarsk IP Myasnikova Evnika Evgenievna. An entrepreneur sells sneakers bearing the company’s trademarks in online stores without permission.
  • Puma also claims similar requirements: the company filed a lawsuit against Damir Lennuarovich Shaymordanov, an individual businessman, for 100,000 rubles.
