The popular New York bathhouse has revealed a secret way to heat pools. It turns out that all this time bitcoin farms were used as a heating element. Visitors to the bathhouse greeted the news with hostility.
The Bathhouse, a New York-based bathhouse, posted on Instagram* a post revealing a specific method of heating water. Instead of wood and fire, they use bitcoin mining rigs that generate a significant amount of heat. According to Bathhouse representatives, their goal was to put the initially environmentally harmful cryptocurrency on at least some useful channel.
The unique system of double earnings in bitcoin mining did not please the visitors of the bathhouse. Users began massively writing negative comments below the post, asking questions about the ethics of such a business. “I worry about who is mining this cryptocurrency, who is benefiting from it. We need transparency,” commented one of Bathhouse’s Instagram followers.
Bathhouse co-founder Jason Goodman said in an interview with Yahooo that he doesn’t understand visitor dissatisfaction: “Instead of using electricity to power the pool heater, we use electricity to run the mining farm. What happen?”.
