The idea arose after watching the CSI series, which used advanced technology to improve the resolution of video frames. The researchers decided to use reflections from the eyes to reconstruct the 3D image of objects.
They relied on neural glow field technology that lets you restore complex objects in 3D from a series of 2D images. In this case, the shape of the eye cornea served as the basis for modeling.
Despite some limitations, such as the use of low-quality video recordings and the limitation of the eye to a single region and location, the results of the study are impressive.
The created 3D models allow you to define objects, even though they have low resolution.
Note that this method is not yet ready for widespread use. But in the future, it could be useful in forensics and other fields where low-quality video footage needs to be analyzed to obtain additional information about events.
