Greenyl, an Italian startup, has released eco-friendly vinyl-free (PVC) vinyl records. The recycled plastic plates are made in a solar powered facility. The price of “green” records is similar to traditional vinyl: 25-30 euros.
In Italy, they launched the production of ecological vinyl records. This is how the newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore reports it.
The plates are made from recycled plastic without the use of highly toxic polyvinyl chloride in a facility that uses 80% of its energy from solar panels.
The price of an ecological disc is approximately equal to the traditional PVC disc and is 25-30 euros.
In 2022, 180 million vinyl records will be produced worldwide, according to Greenyl. According to the startup, to neutralize the environmental damage caused by its production, 6 million trees need to be planted each year.
During the three years of its existence, Greenyl has raised 3 million euros. By 2027, the startup aims to reach a turnover of 21.9 million euros.
